The Business Continuity Coordinator will assist with oversight of the Global Continuity Program covering Business Resilience and Disaster Recovery across all products and regions. We are seeking an experienced professional to drive program requirements and manage the day-to-day planning, development, program execution, maintenance, and testing of Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery, and Crisis Management. The candidate must be comfortable with performing program tasks autonomously with limited support staff.

The BC Coordinator is expected to provide a deep understanding of evolving disruption risks and current industry trends that will meet our customers’ expectations and satisfy regulatory and compliance requirements, enabling Synchronoss to establish a competitive advantage in the marketplace by efficiently delivering high-value, cost-effective Resilience Plans for Synchronoss products.

 

The position will join the Governance, Risk and Compliance team, which is part of the Global Information Security department.

How you will help:

  • Analyse the company’s current BC/DR capabilities and develop a road map to reach program maturity in a timely, efficient, and cost-effective manner, leveraging industry best practices.
  • Consult with technical and business stakeholders and Synchronoss management to collect and analyse program requirements during an annual risk assessment process, including the development of Business Impact Analysis which will drive Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery planning.
  • Ensure Customer Contractual Obligations related to Resilience are identified and incorporated in the program; and provide support to the GRC team when responding to customer questionnaires and audits involving BC/DR.
  • Develop a plan to periodically test Continuity and Recovery Plans. Work with facilities, security, technology, and vendors to plan, execute, and report on the results. Ensure lessons learned are documented and published to product teams and senior management and incorporated into process improvements.
  • Identify and build a business case for BC software platform in support of BC/DR activity. Develop expertise in platform capabilities that will drive program documentation and processes. Participate in the rollout and training of the platform capability to relevant stakeholders.
  • Develop education and communication plans that will increase employee knowledge of BC/DR requirements and the company’s strategy.
  • Assist with other GRC programs as needed, including Third Party Risk Management; Customer Security Questionnaires/Audits; Policy Management; and attainment of SOC2, ISO, and Data Privacy certifications.
  • Travel not anticipated, depending on company and program needs.

Who we have in mind:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience with a continuity program, or related field such as technology operations, audit, or risk management, with extensive exposure to resiliency planning.
  • BE in Computer Science, Engineering or similar relevant field 
  • Familiarity with regulatory and compliance standards applicable to business resilience, such as ISO 27001 or 22301, NIST 800-34, NFPA 1600, BCI-GPG.
  • Knowledge of the challenges of managing cloud-hosted applications and shared-service environments in a BCDR program.
  • Program Management experience running a corporate project, including the development of program tasks, deadlines, deliverables, and metrics reporting.
  • Direct experience with risk assessments, BIAs, and RTO development preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills. Must have the ability to communicate effectively with external customers, auditors, suppliers, internal stakeholders, and executive management in both formal and informal situations.
  • Experience with common technical challenges for a company providing and hosting commercial on-line or mobile applications.
