As a Solution Architect , you will work on a global team that actively adds and maintains new features to our Enterprise Cloud platform. This role involves interactions with Synchronoss current and future enterprise clients as well as regular interactions with Engineering and Product teams. The individual must have strong knowledge in networking, systems administration, systems management, and a strong understanding of the enterprise mobility space. The Solution Architect is responsible for the planning, design, configuration, testing and production support of our Enterprise software and hardware platforms especially AWS. The position will interact with clients. Communication, leadership, and decision-making skills are a must. You will determine operational feasibility by evaluating problem definitions, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions. You will document and demonstrate solutions by developing flowcharts, layouts, diagrams and associated supporting materials. You will prepare solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and improving operations by conducting systems analysis and recommending changes in policies and procedures.

How you will help:

  • The Solution Architect is responsible for the planning, design, configuration, testing and production support of our Infrastructure hardware platforms, in particular AWS. The position will interact with clients. Communication, leadership, and decision-making skills are a must.  
  • You will determine operational feasibility by evaluating problem definitions, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions.
  • You will document and demonstrate solutions by developing flowcharts, layouts, diagrams and associated supporting materials.
  • You will prepare solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and improving operations by conducting systems analysis and recommending changes in policies and procedures.
  • End-to-end delivery of Cloud solutions to customers
  • Work closely with other teams (Program Management, QA, IT, DBA, Operations, Product, etc.) and customers to ensure delivery of production systems
  • Ability to learn and understand Synchronoss’ complete portfolio of offering’s and be able to explain and articulate these offerings to enterprise clients 
  • Work with clients in a consultative capacity to fully understand their current state of deployment, current mobility challenges, and provide a pathway for success to overcome challenges identified. 
  • Consultatively interact with clients to explain performance characteristics and system impact analysis, provide and guide clients through exercises related to lowering TCO in a vendor agnostic fashion. 
  • Identify and prioritize key product line enhancement and developments essential to operate a scalable enterprise solution 
  • Deliver best practice tools and create relative documentation for successful deployment of Synchronoss’ enterprise mobility products. 
  • Fully understand and be able to articulate all possible deployment scenarios as they relate to multiple other vendors including analysis of current architecture design and ability to make recommendations on future changes. 
  • Provide technical guidance, and support in the deployment of complex applications in global distributed computing environments across the project lifecycle. 
  • Consult with Engineering to fit product to real world enterprise architecture. Conversely, identify when it is necessary to modify the application architecture to accommodate infrastructure needs.

Who we have in mind:

  • Bilingual Japanese and English
  • Excellent verbal and written communications and presentation skills.
  • Candidates must have the ability to communicate with global internal/external customers, management etc. in both formal and informal situations.
  • A high degree of creative ability, analytical and technical skills and independent judgement
  • In-depth experience with public clouds such as AWS. Azure and/or Google Cloud experience is required 
  • Strong understanding of Linux administration including industry standard deployment and security practices for Java applications running on RHEL/CentOS/Fedora. 
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint. 
  • Ability to interface with customer onsite both at a technical and executive level 
  • Proven comprehension of solutions and how they are designed to be integrated into the customer environment 
  • Demonstrate creative problem solving and decision making to address complicated business problems 
  • Understand and assess how architecture changes resolve customer issues 
  • Extensive troubleshooting skills of solutions and integrations related to consultation, design, deployment, troubleshooting 
  • Ability to develop and mentor Architects, Professional Services consultants, and other technical persons 
  • Outstanding technical knowledge across the industry and awareness of industry future direction.

It would be great if you had:

  • Knowledge of traditional data center and virtual cloud infrastructures
  • Knowledge of RDBMS – Cassandra/MySQL/MariaDB
  • Experience troubleshooting application performance bottlenecks
  • Knowledge of scalability and resilience techniques
  • Experience with application security principles and the ability to resolve security issues
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science 
  • 10+ years of overall related experience
